Periodontal disease is an infectious disease caused by bacteria, but some contributing causes can increase the probability of the disease occurring, as occurs for smoking or systemic diseases, and / or aggravate the effects of the infectious component as occurs with dental malocclusions.

Each tooth and each of its areas can be affected in a different way, severe, average, minimal or nothing; for this, an accurate tooth-by-tooth diagnosis is necessary.
